MolecuLight I:X®

Real-time bacterial fluorescence imaging at point of care

>10⁴ CFU/g

Bacterial load detection threshold

405nm

Safe violet light — non-invasive, no radiation

Real-time

Instant fluorescence imaging at bedside

  • Detects bacterial loads >10⁴ CFU/g in real time
  • Safe 405nm violet excitation light — no ionising radiation
  • Works on all wound types in all care settings
  • Portable, handheld, non-invasive
  • Digital wound measurement and documentation toolkit
1

Prepare the wound

Enter a darkened room or apply the DarkDrape™ accessory over the wound area.

2

Illuminate with violet light

Shine the safe 405nm violet light directly onto the wound surface.

3

Read the fluorescence

Wound components fluoresce in distinct colours — green for skin, red/cyan for elevated bacterial load.

4

Identify bacterial hotspots

Red and cyan signals indicate regions of bacterial load >10⁴ CFU/g, which correlates to moderate-to-heavy growth.

5

Guide targeted debridement

Clinician uses the fluorescence map to debride only the infected regions — reducing unnecessary intervention.
